Installation Qualification (IQ) is the first stage of process validation. It confirms that every piece of equipment required for your process is installed correctly and in full accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications, ensuring a solid foundation for all subsequent validation activities.
Typical IQ activities include:
1. Component Inspection
Verify that each part is present, properly installed, and free from damage.
2. Environmental Verification
Check that ambient conditions—temperature, humidity, vibration—meet the equipment’s operating requirements.
3. Installation Documentation
Record and confirm that every installation step adheres to the manufacturer’s guidelines.
Each IQ run follows a structured protocol, uses a detailed checklist to track every step, and concludes with a comprehensive report. The protocol defines the acceptance criteria for installation, the checklist ensures no steps are missed, and the report summarizes the results, including any corrective actions needed to bring equipment into full compliance.
