The Problem
Two Agilent G2565CA microarray scanners required service. One scanner showed autofocus errors during slide scanning, along with intermittent color distortion, focus instability, and image discoloration. The second scanner required preventive maintenance and operational qualification, and later showed an intermittent power-button issue.
Autofocus Diagnostics
The affected scanner initially passed routine preventive maintenance checks, but the autofocus fault appeared later during operation. Because intermittent autofocus failures can involve cabling, the autofocus mechanism, or the driver electronics, the first repair step was replacement of the autofocus coil cable.
The issue continued after several hours of use, so the service path moved deeper into the autofocus system.
Repair
ScientifiCo inspected and repaired the autofocus mechanism and replaced the AF coil driver. The scanner was then monitored and tested further to confirm that autofocus behavior stabilized under operating conditions.
Preventive Maintenance and OQ
In parallel, preventive maintenance and operational qualification were completed on the second scanner. When an intermittent On/Off button issue was later reported, incoming power was confirmed and the power switch with its connecting cable was replaced based on the symptoms.
Result
Both scanners were fully tested after service. The autofocus issue was resolved, the PM and OQ work was completed, and the power-switch problem was corrected.
