Project Overview

A laboratory required a Waters HPLC/LCMS system relocation and recommissioning after acquiring a system that needed inspection, cleaning, installation, repair, and software configuration before it could be placed into service.

Relocation and Setup

The system was first inspected prior to purchase. After acquisition, the system was uninstalled, packed, relocated, reassembled, and connected at the new laboratory site. Nitrogen gas line tubing, valves, and T-connectors were installed to support the LC/MS configuration.

Repairs and Recommissioning

During recommissioning, the system was flushed to remove chemical residues. Several functional issues were corrected, including broken waste-line elbow fittings, a leaking seal wash pump, a faulty check valve, and autosampler/sample manager configuration problems. A replacement compressor elevator was installed, software drivers were updated, and the system configuration was restored.

Result

After cleaning, preventative maintenance, fluidic flushing, software configuration, and functional testing, the Waters HPLC/LCMS system was brought back to operational condition. Pump, autosampler, and detector testing confirmed system functionality, and the instrument was prepared for analytical use.
